Call for Volunteer Photographers!

WordCamp Cebu 2019 is getting closer and we are in need of two volunteer photographers, or three! We want to bring a new perspective to the event by offering the opportunity to capture the talks and the overall atmosphere of the event from behind the lens. You don’t have to be a professional photographer to volunteer and you can shoot in your own style. If you are interested, please get in touch with us via the contact form or email us at wccebu@gmail.com.

Please note that as volunteer photographers, you will need to publish your photos online under a Creative Commons license.

No Credit Card or PayPal Account to Buy Tickets?

You’ll need a Paypal account or credit card to purchase tickets but if you don’t have one of those, you can go to PayMaya.com and create a virtual card. You can then load it up in any 7-Eleven stores nationwide. Once it’s loaded, you can then use your virtual card to purchase a ticket.

See you at the WordCamp!

Happiness Bar

Yes, we will have a Happiness Bar at WordCamp Cebu 2019!

What is a Happiness Bar?

A WordCamp Happiness Bar is basically where volunteers will help you with your website, for FREE. Web designers, developers and expert WordPress users will man the Happiness Bar. What topics might they be able to help you with?

  • Plugin advice
  • Theme advice
  • CSS help
  • HTML help
  • Code issues
  • Security advice
  • Anything WordPress

Who staffs the Happiness Bar?

Volunteers. Everything in WordCamp happens because of volunteers. From the organizers to the speakers, people at the registration table as well as those manning the Happiness Bar, they’re all volunteers. As such, not every volunteer may be able to solve every issue. If they can’t, they usually direct you to someone who can or to a specific resource.

Sometimes our speakers will head to the Happiness Bar after their talks, too. So if you want to “continue the conversation”, that’s a great place to be.

Our Stunning Banner Image

Our banner image showcases a few of the historic and iconic landmarks and structures that we’ve got around the beautiful island of Cebu, featuring Magellan’s Cross, the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, the Lapu-Lapu Shrine, and the colorful Philippine jeepney. This certainly wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts and artistry of Mark Anthony Abellana. Your contribution to WordCamp Cebu is much appreciated, and we are very proud to share this banner on the forefront of our website. To the entire WordPress community, we’re all excited to see you at WordCamp Cebu. Cheers!

4 Reasons to Join WordCamp Cebu 2019

WordCamps are definitely unlike any tech-related events. They follow a specific program format and have a feel of their own, making them unique and special. But before you attend the upcoming WordCamp here in the Queen City of the South, here’s a brief introduction to what WordCamps are.

How WordCamps Started

In 2006, the first ever WordCamp took place in San Francisco. From then on, more and more WordCamps have been held in more than 65 countries all across the globe.

Almost every week, a WordCamp takes place. In fact, as of this writing, there are still 9 WordCamps coming up before the year ends.

WordCamps are for everyone or anyone who uses or wants to learn WordPress. You need not be an expert to benefit from a WordCamp. Whether you are a designer, a student, or a new user, you can benefit from WordPress.

With the support of WordCamp Central, WordCamps are made possible. The organizers don’t get paid to run these events. Volunteers and speakers also share their time and expertise for free to keep the cost down.

So, that’s everything you should know about WordCamps. Now why should you attend WordCamp Cebu 2019?
